PREMATURE BABIES.
There were 50 premature births notified during the year.
Although this is a decrease of 4 as compared with 1949 it is
still a much higher figure than the years 1947 and 1948.
It is of great interest to note, however, that only 4 of these
babies failed to survive one month, that is, 8% as compared with
24% for the previous year.
The total number of premature babies notified during the
year were as follows, born :—
