New soakaways were constructed in conjunction with the road
widening scheme at Little Woodcote Lane and Woodmansterne
Lane.
A damaged section of the 21 in. rising main sewer at Mullards
Works was removed and replaced following a fracture.
Three hundred and two drainage obstructions affecting 861 houses
were dealt with.
Rivers and Streams
Maintenance work on the River Wandle and its expansions is the
responsibility of the County Council. Work on the improvement scheme
for the River referred to in previous reports has progressed upwards
from the County boundary and it is anticipated will be undertaken in
the urban district during 1962 and 1963.
Closet Accommodation
All dwellings have w.c.s connected to the sewers except 15 which
are separately drained to cesspools.
Public Cleansing
There is a weekly collection of refuse which is disposed of by incineration
at the Council's 6 cell destructor. Clinker and screenings were tipped
at the tip in Carshalton Road, Woodmansterne.
