age coming to our notice through the maternity and child welfare
scheme is transmitted to the Surrey Voluntary Association for the
Blind, in accordance with the recommendation contained in Memo.
162/B.D.
No action was taken under Section 66 of the Public Health Act,
1925, nor under Section 176 of' the Public Health Act, 1936.
Food Poisoning.
Food poisoning is a notifiable condition, but more frequently
instances come to our notice as the result of complaints lodged by the
family affected as to the wholesomeness of some particular food
believed to be the cause of the illness. Two such instances were
reported which may have been the result of "food poisoning"
organisms or their toxins.
An adult complained that a meat pie of which she had eaten had
given rise to sickness and diarrhoea. Remains of the pie were
examined at the Ministry of Health's Laboratory, but this revealed
only the presence of organisms indicative of staleness and not of the
"food poisoning" group. The patient recovered after a brief
illness.
