The Surrey County Council undertake the treatment of tuberculosis in this district. 125 persons from Carshalton received treatment in the following institutions during the year:—

The number of persons who died of tuberculosis was two fewer
at 37. The death rate was therefore, 0 63 per 1,000 of the population.
The deaths were distributed as to age and sex as
follows:—

The Council provides a free service for the examination of sputum
for tubercle bacilli. In the past year 69 specimens were examined
with a positive result in 8.
No action was taken under the Public Health (Prevention of
Tuberculosis) Regulations, 1925, nor under Section 172 of the
Public Health Act, 1936.
