Poor Law Relief.—The amount expended in outdoor relief in the
District in 1925 was £1,577 6s. 3d.
(2) General Provision of Health Services in the District.
Hospitals Provided or Subsidised by the District Council or
County Council.—Hospitals for Tuberculosis and Smallpox are
available for the District under the schemes of the Surrey County
Council.
The Isolation Ho'Spital is the Cuddington Joint Isolation Hospital
in the Epsom Rural District.
The Carshalton, (Bedding-ton and Wallington (War Memorial)
Hospital in Carshalton Park, which was opened in 1924, provides for
general medical and surgical cases. It contains 26 beds and an
emergency ward. The District Council made an agreement with the
Committee of the Hospital at the end of 1925. for the reception of
maternity cases which required special treatment, or from unsuitable
homes.
Ambulance Facilities.—A motor ambulance for the removal of
cases of infectious disease is provided by the Joint Hospital Board.
For non-infectious and accident cases a motor ambulance, provided
by the Order of St. John and British Red Cross Society for the use of
the Carshalton and Wallington Districts, is stationed at Messrs.
Wardill's garage in Pound Street, Carshalton.

On the opening of the War Memorial Hospital the District Council
purchased the Cottage Hospital and converted it into a Municipal
Institute and Clinic for Maternity and Child Welfare work, and the
Surrey County Council utilise part of the premises as a School Clinic.
The District Council make a subsidy of £50 annually to the DayNursery.
