Pneumonia, 9 from Influenzal Pneumonia, 21 from Broncho-pneumonia,
and 11 from unspecified Pneumonia were registered in the District; the
cases in the Mental Hospitals are excluded from these figures. No cases
of Malaria, nor of Dysentery, other than at the Mental Hospitals, were
notified.
The deaths from Influenza in the five years numbered 1 in 1921, 9 in
1922, 2 in 1923, 3 in 1921 and 2 in 1925, or 17 in all, representing an
annual death-rate of 0-23 per 1,000 of the population, as against a rato of
0-37 for England and Wales ; 8 were males and 9 were females. Among
males there was no special incidence at any age; among females, 1 was
nnder 1 year of age, 3 were between the ages of 55 and 65 years, and 5 were
over 65 years of age.
Measles was prevalent in 1922 and 1924, and Whooping Cough in
1922, 1923 and 1925. The outbreaks were for the most part mild in
character; there were 4 deaths from Whooping Cough in 1925, but
otherwise only 1 death from Whooping Cough in 1921, and 1 from Measles
in 1924, all the deaths occurring among infants under one year of age with
the exception of a death from Whooping Cough in the case of a patient
aged 65 years, who was suffering from heart disease..
Notifiable Diseases during the Year 1925. —The following Table shows the cases notified in Epsom, the Union Hospital, and the Mental Hospitals, and the number of cases treated in hospital, and the number of deaths among the patients in the first two classes : —
