All ponds and ditches in the Borough where mosquito breeding
was possible were sprayed with insecticide twice during the
year. Twenty-six visits were paid for this purpose.
Legal Proceedings.—Twelve applications were made to the
Justices for Nuisance Orders against property owners under
Section 94, Public Health Act, 1936. The results were as
follows: —
Nine summonses were dismissed, with one guinea costs in
each case, as works were completed before the hearing
of summonses.
On three summonses, the Magistrates made an order for the
carrying out of works within 56 days and awarded one
guinea costs in each case.
Petroleum (Regulation) Acts, 1928 and 1936, and Petroleum
(Mixtures) Order, 1929.—Ninety-six licences to store petroleum
spirit and/or petroleum mixtures were issued for a total of
191,734 gallons (inclusive of cellulose solutions).
Petroleum (Regulation) Acts, 1928 and 1936, and Petroleum
(Carbide of Calcium) Order, 1929.—Three licences were issued
for the storage of 2,344 lbs. (plus 448 lbs. temporary re-supply) of
carbide of calcium.
