All ponds and ditches in the Borough where mosquito breeding
was possible were sprayed with insecticide twice during the
year. Twenty-six visits were paid for this purpose.
Legal Proceedings.—Sixteen applications were made to the
Justices for Nuisance Orders against property owners under
Section 94, Public Health Act, 1936. The results were as
follows:—
Ten summonses were adjourned sine die on reports to Justices
that works were in progress.
Five summonses were dismissed with costs, as works were
completed before the hearing of the summonses.
One order was made by the Justices with costs.
Milk and Dairies Order, 1926.—Proceedings were taken
against a firm of milk retailers for using two dirty milk bottles.
The retailer was fined £75 with £3 3s. costs on one summons.
The other summons was dismissed.
Petroleum (Consolidation) Act, 1928.—Ninety-two licences
to store petroleum and cellulose solutions were granted, totalling
161.708 gallons. Five licences were also issued for 2,744 lbs. of
carbide of calcium to be stored.
