Infant Mortality
During the year 37 deaths were registered as occurring in infants under one year of age:—

as compared with 42 deaths last year.
Maternal Mortality
During the year one death was registered as being due to:—
Cerebral compression.
„ Haemorrhage.
Chronic nephritis and arterio sclerosis
Pregnancy.
In 1942, one death was registered as being due to disease
or accident of pregnancy.
Inquests
Inquests were held on 14 residents dying within the district
and on 16 Mitcham residents who died outside the district, a
total of 30. In addition, the coroner held 87 post-mortems without
inquests.
