OTHER FOOD PREPARING PLACES
There are four other premises in which food is prepared for
human consumption. All of these have been systematically
visited.
NUTRITION
During the year 2,134 gallons of liquid milk and 7,962 lbs.
of dried milk have been supplied free or at cost price to mothers
and children under five years of age in the Borough.
Several talks on nutrition and demonstrations in cookery
have been given to mothers attending the welfare centres.
HEALTH PROPAGANDA
The cinema van of the Health and Cleanliness Council was
engaged for showing health films at Mitcham Fair. The van
attracted large crowds, and although it is difficult to judge how
many of the spectators learnt the lessons which were taught, it
is nevertheless a useful form of propaganda.
This Borough participated in the Surrey Health Campaign.
A Health Day each month was held during October, November
and December. The programme for a Health Day consisted of
showing health films to school children at the local cinema during
the morning. In the afternoon, a talk on a Maternity Child
Welfare subject was given to mothers at the Welfare Centre, and
the talk was followed by a cookery demonstration.
In the evening a meeting was held for the general public,
at which health films were shown and a special speaker addressed
the meeting on a particular aspect of public health.
