Deaths.
During the year 588 deaths were registered, of which 307 were
males and 281 were females, as compared with 485 deaths last year.
The death rate for the year was equal to 9.1 per 1000 of the
population, as compared with 7.7 per 1,000 in 1935.
The death rate for England and Wales was 12.1 per 1,000 for
the year 1936 and 11.8 per 1,000 for 1935.
Senile Deaths.
The number of deaths of persons of 65 years of age and over
was 262, of which 120 were males and 142 females. This constitutes
44.5 per cent. of the total deaths, as compared with 42.6 per cent.
last year.
