FACTORIES AND WORKSHOPS.
There are 163 factories and workshops in the district, of which
96 are factories and 67 are workshops.
In addition there are 14 workplaces.
During the year 285 visits of inspection were paid.
Outworkers.
There are 91 outworkers in Mitcham. One hundred and fortyfive
visits of inspection were paid and, in connection with these, no
defects found.
During the year four cases of infectious disease were notified as
occurring in the houses of outworkers. In none of these cases was
it necessary to make any order under Section 110 of Factories and
Workshops Act, 1901.
