Rehousing Assessment of Applications with Medical Aspects
When there are special medical circumstances affecting the
rehousing needs of applicants on the Council s waiting list the
Council give consideration to this in deciding the cases in most
urgent need of rehousing However many medical conditions may not
be affected by the home conditions nor benefit by rehousing To
ensure a proper assessment of medical cases details of applicants
claiming priority on these grounds are referred to the Medical
Officer of Health The medical conditions are fully investigated
and if necessary the applicant's permission is obtained for a
direct approach to be made to the family doctor or the hospital
for further information. In addition, the home is visited by the
Medical Officer so that the environmental conditions can be related
before making a final recommendation upon the degree of priority
warranted.
