Priority Dental Service for Mothers and Young Children
The dental service as a whole is discussed later by the Area
Dental Officer, Mr. V. Sainty, under the work of the school health
service.
Reference was made in last year's report to a visit made to
this Area by Miss E M. Knowles, O.B.E. F D„ S , H. D.D a Senior
Dental Officer of the Ministry of Health, Her report on her visit
to the County as a whole has caused the Minister to comment
particularly favourably on the average number of 2.7 teeth conserved
per child treated in Middlesex which, in 1954 was stated to be
the best performance in the country. In this connection it is
interesting to compare the figures for this Area with those for
the County as a whole bearing in mind that as this Area s figures
are included in the County's, some of the latter appear more
favourable than they should be for the purpose of this comparison:-
