I am indebted to the Middlesex County Council (the Authority for administering the provisions of the Food and Drugs (Adulteration) Act) for the following information respecting samples taken in this district:

PREVALENCE OF, AND CONTROL OVER, INFECTIOUS
AND OTHER DISEASES.
Compared with 1935 there were in 1936 147 fewer notified oases
of Scarlet Fever, and there were no deaths. Of the 430 notified cases,
139 were removed to Hospital—about one third. These figures would
indicate that the system of retaining at home where possible all mild
cases of Scarlet Fever is justifiable.
