PUERPERAL FEVER AND PUERPERAL PYREXIA.
The Council provides consultants and arranges for pathological or
bacteriological examinations in cases of puerperal fever or pyrexia, and
other cases, at the request of the medical practitioner in attendance.
A special Consultant's Fee was paid in 3 cases.
Hospital treatment is also arranged for in suitable cases.
The following table shows the final result of the oases on the register
at the end of the year: —

MATERNAL MORTALITY.
A Special Report is forwarded to the Ministry of each death of a
mother, directly or indirectly connected with child-birth. This report
is based on the result of the enquiries made of every nurse, midwife, or
doctor who has been in attendance upon the mother.
