It is gratifying to record that the majority of the traders
have shown a willing co-operation to comply with the requirements
of the Regulations, This is revealed in the above table by the
number of infringements rectified in the relatively short time
the Regulations have been in force. Mention must also be made
that the standard of hygiene in the various food premises and
the cleanliness of the persons engaged in the handling of food
continued to improve.

PROSECUTIONS - FOOD HYGIENE REGULATIONS. 1955
Proceedings were taken during the year in two instances, both
under Regulation 9(e), as follows:-
(a) Smoking a cigarette whilst handling open food in a food
room - FINED 30/-
(b) Smoking a cigarette whilst delivering unwrapped bread to a
householder - FINED £5,0s„0d,
PROSECUTIONS - FOOD ANDDRUGS ACT ,1955
Proceedings were also taken under Section 2 of the Act for
selling to the prejudice of the purchaser food not of the
substance demanded,, as follows;-
