MASS RADIOGRAPHY
A Mass Radiography Unit of the South-West Metropolitan
Regional Hospital Board visited the Public Hall, Sutton, from
28th August to 15th September, 1950,

Two thousand eight hundred and eighty eight persons attended for examination. The final results were as follows:-

MalesFemales
Total X-Rayed12741614
Pulmonary Tuberculosis, active65
Pulmonary Tuberculosis, inactive4250
Abnormalities (non-Tuberculous)3639

These figures show that approximately four persons per 1000
of population were found to have active pulmonary Tuberculosis,
The ratio is higher than in previous surveys, particularly for
males, but is within the expectation from random samples of the
population. Ninety-two cases were found with inactive Tuberculosis,
showing the frequency of spontaneous healing The finding of nonTuberculous
abnormalities of the heart and lungs gives opportunity
for early and appropriate treatment The finding of early
Tuberculosis of the lungs by mass radiography is contributing
towards a reduction of Tuberculous infection in the community,
