THE SLAUGHTER OF ANIMALS ACT, 1935.
All animals slaughtered in the district have been stunned
by means of a mechanically-operated instrument in accordance with
the terms of this Act.
Four persons were licenced to act as Slaughtermen during
1947.
BAKEHOUSES.
There are 26 Bakehouses, within the District and of these
22 are provided with mechanical power. A good standard of
cleanliness and sanitary condition generally obtained.

RATS AND MICE (DESTRUCTION) ACT, 1919.

THE INFESTATION ORDER, 1945.
A. SURFACE TREATMENT.
During 1947, 6148 primary and subsequent visits were made
in connection with rats or mice infested or suspected infested
premises.
No major infestations were recorded. 312 premises were
satisfactorily cleared of rats or mice and the wcrk for the year
is generally summarised below:-

Total number of premises on which no evidence
of infestation was found 51.
Total number of premises found to be infested 326.
Total number of premises cleared of rats or mice
(including 71 premises cleared which were discovered
during previous years) 312.
