Pork Sausages
In the annual report for 1945 it was stated that an
informal sample and a repeat sample revealed a meat content of only
30 per cent and 20 per cent respectively, instead of 50 per cent as
prescribed by the Meat Products, Canned Soups and Canned Meat
(Control & Maximum Prices) Order 1944, and a prosecution was pending.
The case was heard early in 1946, and resulted in the
defendant pleading guilty and being fined £5.
MILK SUPPLY
There are 12 dairymen and 12 retail purveyors of milk in
the district. Two persons whose premises are outside the district
are also registered as retail purveyors, Routine Inspection of
premises has again revealed that the provisions of the Milk and
Dairies Order, 1926, have been generally well observed.
Under the Ministry of Pood Milk Rationalisation Scheme the
number of premises from which milk is sold continues to be considerably
reduced.
