secure immunity in children before infection occurs.
The Schick testing of forty-three children after
injection showed that a satisfactory degree of
immunity was established.
Propaganda was carried out by Health Visitors
and at the Welfare Centres.
The material used was Toxoid-Antitoxin-Floccules
(T.A.F.) given in three doses into the upper arm.
The freedom from reaction of this material is an
important factor in popularising immunisation.
The following Table shows the distribution in
age-groups of the children receiving three Injections
of T.A.F. during 1938:—

Nurses and sent to the County Laboratory ; these are
not included in the above Table.
