at Maiden Road, Cheam. The new baths at
Maiden Road, Cheam, were opened officially by His
Worship the Mayor, on 9th April, 1938. The water
in both of these baths is purified by filtration, aeration,
and continuous chlorination. Tests for " free "
chlorine and for alkalinity are made four times each
day.
Fifty-six bug-infested houses were dealt with as follows:—

One other case was in hand at the end of the year.
Except where H.C.N. gas is used, the work of disinfestation
is carried out by co-operation between the
landlord and the Corporation on the lines indicated
in previous reports.
Contractors employed by private landlords, or by
the Corporation in the case of Council houses, apply
the H.C.N. method. In these cases bedding is dealt
with by steam disinfection.
The Insecticides used are "Riz" and "Zaldecide."
EXCHANGE OF ARTICLES OF FOOD AND
DRINK, ETC., FOR RAGS.
Under Section 154 of the Public Health Act, 1936,
it is not lawful for any person who collects or deals
in rags, old clothes or similar articles, to sell or deliver
any article of food or drink to any person or any
article to a person under fourteen years of age.
