CHIROPODY
Many schoolchildren visit the clinic chiropodist during the year, most of them suffering from planter
warts. The cause of this complaint is thought to be due to a virus, and spread from one child to another and
appears to occur more in conditions where the feet are immersed in water e.g. swimming baths, than in
other types of barefoot activity.
School talks on foot health to ten and eleven year olds were given at regular intervals with some
success and were designed to impress upon them the need for foot care and hygiene. There is no doubt that
with a good and active foot Health Education programme today, we will save our children from becoming
the pain stricken, semi-crippled pensioners of tomorrow.
