Shops.
It was not necessary during the year to take action with
regard to the temperature or ventilation of shops but one
certificate of exemption was granted under Section 10 (6) of the
Shops Acts, 1934, relating to sanitary conveniences and washing
facilities.
Swimming Baths and Pools
Samples of water from the Larkswood Swimming Pool were
taken in June, July and August, those in the last-mentioned
month being taken by the County Bacteriologist, who personally
inspected the pool. All samples were certified on examination
to be of a high standard of purity, safe and suitable for swimming
purposes.
The pool continues to be a successful enterprise, and highest
attendances were recorded on the 8th August, when approximately
6,047 persons were admitted.
Chlorine and alkalinity readings were forwarded weekly by
the Pool Superintendent to the Public Health Department. The
pool was closed for repairs (to filter plant) for two days.
