Domestic Help Service
The demands on the Domestic Help service have been maintained
during the year, a total of 29,081 hours of help being supplied in comparison
with 30,916 hours in 1951.
Cases assisted have been maternity, acute sick, chronic sick, aged,
tuberculous and other infectious cases.
All applications are supported by a medical certificate and in the case
of the chronic sick, which are long term cases, they are reviewed every three
months by the Area Sub-Committee.
SECTION H. SCHOOL HEALTH SERVICES
The School Health Service for the Borough is administered by
Essex County Council through the Forest Divisional Executive. There are
8 primary, 1 secondary modern and 1 secondary grammar schools in
Borough.
1. School Medical Inspections
During the year under review a School Medical Inspector made periodic
visits to all maintained schools in Wanstead and Woodford (includiing
Cowslip Road County Primary School temporarily accommodated at Forest
View, Chingford), for the purpose of carrying out the medical inspection
of those pupils due for routine inspection and others referred for special
inspection by the Head Teacher or parent. 2003 pupils were inspected at
routine examinations, as follows:—

2. Minor Ailment Clinics
The Minor Ailment Clinic is held at the School Clinic at 93 High
Road, South Woodford, every Friday morning. 400 individual pupils made
624 attendances during 1952.
3. Dental Treatment
A part-time dental service has continued to operate at the Woodford
Clinic during this year. I am pleased to report that about the middle of
the year the list of pupils who had been awaiting treatment for many
