(c) Health Visiting.
The total number of visits paid by Health Visitors to expectant mothers
and children under 5 years of age in the Borough during the year was 6,546.
To Expectant Mothers 396
To Children under 1 year of age 2,549
To Children between 1 and 5 years 3,601
five years of age the Health Visitors were also concerned with the family as
a Whole and undertook visits to the aged and infirm.
(d) Vaccination and Immunisation against Diphtheria.
The scheme for vaccination, and immunisation against diphtheria, has
been carried out largely by means of the medical practitioner service. The
response in this Borough has been good and statistical details will be found
Under Section F of this report dealing with the prevalence of, and control
over, infectious and other diseases.
(e) Domestic Help Service,
This service has continued to expand throughout the area, the demands
1949 to 181 patients within the Borough and details of the types of cases
assisted are set out below: —

At the end of the year help was still being provided for 7 acute sick

Other Clinics and Treatment Centres.
(a) School Clinics. The Minor Ailment Clinic, under the control of
the Essex County Council, is held at 93 High Road, South Woodford,
E.18, Fridays at 9 a.m.
(b) Orthopædic Centre. The orthopaedic centre is open at 93 High
ac*i South Woodford, E.18, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and
9
