INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD
(a) Milk Supply
The District is a Specified Area under the provisions of
Section 37 of the Food and Drugs Act, 1955, which means that
only Designated Milk may be sold.
5 samples of milk have been taken during the year and all
were reported upon as genuine.
15 dairies and milkshops are registered.
9 licences have been issued to firms with premises outside the
district to purvey milk in the District.
(b) Meat and other Foods
SLAUGHTERING AND BUTCHERS' SHOPS
There are 4 slaughterhouses in the District, all licensed under
Section 62 of the Food and Drugs Act, 1955. In addition, there
is one Knacker's Yard also licensed under this Act.
