17 complaints of food unfit to eat were received during the year. In each case the matter was taken up with the vendor and the manufacturer. The goods affected were:

(e) Bakeries.
There are 14 Bakehouses in the District, 2 of which are not
in use. 171 visits have been made.
(f) Chemical and Bacteriological Examination of Food.
This is mainly dealt with by the County Council but we
may and do take samples for analysis, if necessary.
(g) Adulteration.
This continues to be dealt with by the County Council until
1st April, 1954.
(h) Ice-Cream.
107 visits were made to ice-cream manufacturers and vendors
for routine inspections and sampling.
There are 8 manufacturers and 104 vendors of ice-cream on the register. Only one firm manufactures in the District and the laboratory reports on this firm's products were as follows:
