Tuberculosis.
57 new cases of pulmonary and 10 of non-pulmonary
tuberculosis were notified during the year
compared with 35 and 6 in 1946, but it should be noted
that 39 of these cases were transferred into the district
from other areas. When it is remembered that the new
estates are far from completion these figures give
a measure of the increasing pressure on the County
Tuberculosis service with the evergrowing demand for
more sanatorium beds, X-ray facilities and dispensary
accommodation.
There were 8 deaths only from tuberculosis
compared with 10 in 1946.
