CHIGWELL URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL.
To the Chairman and Members of the Chigwell Urban District Council.
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have the honour to present my Annual Report upon the health
and sanitary circumstances of the District for the year, 1938. This is my
third report and it is drawn up in accordance with the provisions of
Article 17(5) of the Sanitary Officers (Outside London) Regulations,
1935, and Circular 1728 of the Minister of Health dated October, 1938.
The only change in Staff has been due to the absence on account
of ill-health of Miss O. F. Howard—Miss J. Warriner having been
appointed Clerk temporarily for the period of one year from November,
1938.
The work in the Public Health Department has been considerably
increased during the year due to the setting up of the Air Raid Precautions
Scheme.
I have with regret to report two outbreaks of Diphtheria during
the year of which details will be found in the Report.
My thanks are due to all members and officers of the Council who
have kindly given me assistance during the year and to the members of
my Staff who in addition have all assisted in the compilation of this
Report.
I am,
Your obedient Servant,
R. DYKES, M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P.
