Remarks on Vital Statistics—continued.
It is gratifying to record that there were no deaths from Influenza.
The deaths from Pulmonary Tuberculosis were the same as for
1937-8.
Figures for preceding years were:—

1937 8.
The statistics given compare favourably with those shown for
England and Wales, particularly the birth rate.
Section B.
GENERAL PROVISIONS OF HEALTH SERVICES
IN THE DISTRICT.
1. (i) Public Health Officers of the Authority—See page 2.
(ii) (a) Laboratory facilities. Under arrangements made by the
Essex County Council.
(b) Ambulance Facilities. An Ambulance is maintained by the
Council and is only available for accidents or urgent
Medical cases. It has been in regular use during the year
and is at present adequate for the District. The reciprocal
arrangements regarding ambulance service made with the
Borough of Wanstead and Woodford is satisfactory and in
an emergency the Ambulance can be obtained from Messrs.
Flack of Epping. The ambulance personnel are efficient
and all hold the Certificate of the British Red Cross Society.
Number of ambulance calls received during the year 195
as against 172 in 1937. List as follows:—
