The School Nurses continue to visit all cases of non-notifiable infectious disease, and, as
has been pointed out in previous years, this work takes up a considerable part of the nurses'
visiting time, and when the number of cases is large the other work suffers to some extent.
As usual in cases of Diphtheria, all home contacts have been swabbed, and in cases where
it was thought that the infection might be in the school, all school contacts have also been
examined.
The campaign in regard to immunisation against Diphtheria has been continued during the
year, and a full report of this work will appear in my Annual Report as Medical Officer of Health.
9.—OPEN-AIR EDUCATION.
(a). Playground Classes.
Playground classes are arranged in most of the schools in the Borough during fine weather,
and all schools are supplied with the necessary furniture.
(b). Open-Air Classrooms.
There are no open-air classrooms in any of the public elementary schools of the Borough.
(c). School Journeys and Camps.
A camp was established during the summer at Ham Island, near Windsor, and parlies of 20
girls were sent there in successive weeks from the Bulstrode Girls' Senior School. There will
probably be developments under this heading in the future.
