During the year 1919, specimens were examined in the Laboratory as follows :—

---|---|---|---|
Diphtheria (Swabs) | 73 | 161 | 234 |
Tuberculosis (sputum) | 12 | 59 | 71 |
Widal Tests | |||
Total | 85 | 220 | 305 |
It is a noteworthy fact that no samples of blood were sent
for the diagnosis of Enteric Fever, and of the latter disease there
were only two cases notified, both from the Brentford Union
Infirmary. One of them came from outside the district, whilst
the other was a nurse in the Institution (in—attondanoo—on—the
oiiao).
The swabs examined for Diphtheria included 59 taken in
connection with the School Medical Service, of which 25 were
positive, and 92 from contacts, of which 8 were positive.
