Rent Act, 1957.
This Act came into force on the 6th July, 1957, and in certain
respects modified the powers and duties of Local Authorities under
the Rent Acts and other enactments. Those Sections of the Housing
Repairs and Rents Act 1954 relating to Certificates of Disrepair were
repealed by the new Act which provided for an entirely new procedure
in connection with applications by tenants for Certificates of Disrepair.
The following is a summary of the position on the 31st December, 1959 :—
