Result of Service of Notices.
(a) Legal proceedings.
As a result of non-compliance with abatement notices legal
proceedings were started in forty-eight cases. In twenty-six of these
cases nuisance orders were made and in the remaining twenty-two the
summonses were withdrawn as the work was completed. The costs
awarded amounted to £61 Is. 3d.
Three applications were made to the Court to recover the cost
of dustbins supplied by the Corporation in default under Section 75
of the Public Health Act, 1936. Two applications were made to
recover the expenses incurred by the Corporation in abating statutory
nuisances in respect of which nuisance orders had been made by the
Court but which had not been complied with by the owners.
(b) Work carried out in default.
Four dustbins were supplied by the Corporation in the default of
the owners.
In six cases where nuisance orders had been made by the
Court, but not complied with by the owners, the Corporation executed
the necessary works to abate the nuisances.
Nuisances abated and defects remedied.
