INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD.
Milk Supply.—All the milk for retail sale is brought into the area
from other districts.
Thirty five licences were granted under the Milk (Special Designations)
Order, 1936, as follows:—

Bacteriological Examination.—Thirty-four samples of milk were
taken for bacteriological examination under the Milk (Special Designations)
Order.
Legal proceedings were taken against one Dairy for selling milk
in a dirty bottle. A tine of £10 with £3 13. Od. costs was imposed
on the Dairy by the Court.
Food and Drugs Act, 1938.
The Council became the Local Authority under this Act on 1st
October, 1939.
One hundred and six samples were taken up to the end of the
year. There was one prosecution for the sale of whisky containing
18% of added water, and the defendant was fined £10 and £3 3s. Od.
costs.
