Births.—The number of births registered in the district was
600 (299 males and 301 females), a decrease of ninety-one as
compared with last year, and equal to a birth-rate of 10.2 per
thousand on a population of 58,840. The corrected birth rate
produced by transferable births notified to us by the RegistrarGeneral
is 10.9. Thirty-eight (or 5.9 per cent) of the births were
illegitimate.
The birth rate in Wimbledon continues to fall, the figure for
1931 being two per thousand below that for the previous year.
The following table gives the birth rate in Wimbledon for the past ten years together with the comparative figures for England and Wales. At present the birth rate in Wimbledon is lower than the death rate.
