Certificates of registration or re-registration were issued by the Council in respect of:—

Nursing Homes for Maternity Cases1
Nursing Homes for Medical, Surgical and Maternity Cases1
Nursing Homes for Chronic Cases2

Intimation was received that one Nursing Home for Chronic
Cases was being discontinued.
These homes were periodically inspected and supervised.
In a number of cases alterations were required such as improvements
in ventilation, better larder accommodation, and additional
provision against the danger of fire. In all instances the requirements
of the Council were complied with. The standard
of the nursing homes in Wimbledon is good.
MORTUARY.
The mortuary is situated within the grounds of the
Cemetery at Gap Road. The Council have under consideration
the question of the erection of a new mortuary, and an amount
for this purpose has been included in the estimate of rate for
the current year.
From information received from the Superintendent of the
Cemetery there were 108 bodies received into the mortuary
during 1931. Inquests were held by the Coroner with respect to
108 bodies, equalling 20.61 per cent. of the deaths registered in
the Borough.
