The following information is supplied by the Borough
Surveyor, Mr. T. Webster:—
Baths Extension.—Additional Dressing Accommodation and
provision for the storage of cycles has now been completed.
Housing.—Nine parlour-type houses are now in course of
erection in Faraday Eoad.
Sewage Disposal Works.—The construction of new filters is
now practically completed.
Refuse Collection.—The motor lorries used for the collection
of house refuse are now having covers fitted which will close
tightly, thus preventing the usual nuisances connected with the
open type of lorn,-.
Street Gully Cleansing.—During the past year the gullies
have been emptied and re-sealed with fresh water by means of
a mechanical vehicle. The detritus is drawn straight into a
sealed tank in the machine, thus obviating the practice of
allowing the detritus to lie in the channels until collected.
