225 cases were admitted to the Wimbledon Isolation
Hospital during 1926, making a total of 278 cases under
treatment during the year, 53 cases remaining under treatment
from 1925. 224 cases were from Wimbledon, and 54 from
Kingston.
Scarlet Fever:—Of the 167 cases admitted as scarlet
fever, 4 were not scarlet—3 being transient erythemas and
one a case of German Measles. 8 cases were admitted desquamating.
98% of the cases were mild and 2% moderately
severe. There were no deaths.
3 cases developed mastoid disease and one case (with a
history of transient rash), was admitted with acute mastoiditis.
All were successfully operated on—3 by radical operation and
one by Wilde's operation.
5 cases developed secondary attacks of Scarlet Fever
during the stay in hospital—3 untreated by Anti-scarlet serum
and 2 cases treated by serum. These cases may be accounted
