9.9. The rate for England and Wales for the same period
was 11.6.

Table II. gives the causes of, and ages at. deaths during 1926. Deaths due to notifiable infectious diseases are given on p. 33. The principal causes of death, a part from Zymotic deaths, are as follows:—

Infantile Mortality:—There were 27 infant deaths during
the year (including transferable deaths), giving a rate of 33
per thousand registered births, a decrease of 19 per thousand
on last year's figures, when there were 46 deaths and a rate
of 60. The infantile death-rate calculated on the RegistrarGeneral's
figures, is 33 per thousand births. The infant death
rate for illegitimate children was 26 per thousand illegitimate
births.
