(e) Orthoptic Clinic.—Mrs. K. S. Box, S.R.N., S.C.M.,
D.B.O., has contributed the following report on the work done
at the Clinic :—

(f) Nose and Throat Defects.—Operative treatment, where
necessary, is provided either at the Connaught Hospital or Whipps
Cross Hospital.
(g) Ear Disease and Defective Hearing.—Dr. Francis Clarke
reports as follows :—
"The main purpose of the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic, one
of several clinics of the Education Authority, is to detect, examine
and treat all those defects and diseases of the ear, nose and throat
found amongst the school population in the Borough, excepting
those cases which require hospital in-patient treatment, operations,
anaesthetics.
By far the greater majority of these clinic cases are discovered
during the regular school medical inspections and at the school
clinics. A certain number are referred by the local doctors, Health
Visitors, etc.
