Totals | 1931 1930 | 12 57 | 25 | 20 44 | 13 13 | 4 11 | 14 39 |
Of the 67 cases, 58 were unvaccinated, the ages of the remaining
9 (vaccinated in infancy) being 61, 60, 55, 55, 52, 51, 40, 30 and
21 years. Thirty-four patients were infected by previous cases in
the Borough and 12 cases were infected outside the Borough, leaving
21 unaccounted for.
Of the 12 outside infections, 4 were probably at a billiard
saloon in an adjoining area and gave rise to 2 further cases in
Walthamstow. One of this series was actually sent to the Isolation
Hospital as a case of Scarlet Fever. Presumably a scarlatiniform
prodromal rash had been present. Fortunately the patient was only
in a general ward for some two hours before he was transferred to
the cubicle block where the correct diagnosis soon became obvious.
All contacts not recently vaccinated were either vaccinated or
revaccinated and no further cases arose.
Three cases were infected at one place of employment outside
the Borough.
Only 2 of the 12 cases infected elsewhere had previously been
notified as having been contacts at their place of employment.
