Loan of Sick Room Equipment.—The increasing demand for equipment
continues and again applications throughout the year have more
than doubled those for the previous year which showed a considerable Increase.
The issues from the Public Health Offices were as follows:—

Tuberculosis Visitors.—Three Tuberculosis Visitors were employed
in the Area during 1953 making a total of 4,074 visits to homes in the
Borough.
Domiciliary Occupational Therapist.—Throughout 1953 efforts
made to appoint an Occupational Therapist to commence a domiciliary
service for patients suffering from tuberculosis were unsuccessful. I am,
however, pleased to record that a joint appointment was made in May,
1954, to serve both the Ilford and Romford Health Areas.
Rehabilitation of Tuberculosis Cases.—Assistance in the maintenance
charges of cases at the Papworth Hall Settlement was given as
follows:—
