The infant mortality rate for 1936 was 59 for England and
Wales, 66 for London, and 63 for the towns having a population
exceeding 50,000.

The deaths from pneumonia totalled 16, as compared with 8
for 1935. There were 29 deaths of premature infants as compared
with 33 in 1935.
