Of the total cases confined in the Home:—
(a) 79 cases were living in 2 rooms or less (54 being first
confinements).
(b) 119 cases were living in 3 rooms (80 being first
ments).
Of the 481 confinements, 27 women had engaged their own
doctor, 5 of these cases were, however, delivered by a midwife,
the doctor not being present at the birth. 454 were attended by
one of the midwives at the Home.

It was necessary to call in a doctor in 108 of the latter cases, owing to the following complications:-
