3. Tuberculosis:—During the year 1928 there were 118 new
notifications of Pulmonary Tuberculosis and 35 of other forms of
Tuberculosis. Nineteen cases of Pulmonary and 3 cases of NonPulmonary
Tuberculosis were transferred to Ilford.

The following Table shows the cases notified in 1928, and the deaths which occurred in 1928, classified according to age and sex

Five of the above deaths, or 6.9 per cent, of the total deaths, had not
been notified.
Of the above the following were notified from Institutions in
the district:—
Claybury Mental Hospital—Pulmonary Tuberculosis 4
The Girls' Village Homes, Barkingside—Pulmonary Tuberculosis

Emergency Hospital—Pulmonary Tuberculosis 2
Of the 72 deaths which occurred of Ilford residents, notification
had previously been made of 61 of the cases. Four were notified
after death, and in 2 cases the presence of tuberculosis was
discovered at post mortem examination, and were then notified.
The 5 remaining cases were not notified.
