The birth, death, and zymotic death-rates for the year 1897 are shown in the following table:—

The number of persons residing in these buildings in
1897 is reported to be 255, viz., 153 adults, and 102
children.
There were 10 births, and six deaths, including two
from zymotic diseases.
Seven notifications of scarlet fever were received, five
from Aldwych, one from Powis, and one from Wimbledon
Buildings.
The following are the conditions of occupation to be
observed by the tenants:—
1. Each tenant, on taking possession, will be supplied
with one key of each lock in the tenement, and two of the
entrance door. Any tenant may be charged the cost of
replacing any key lost or damaged by him.
2. The rents shall be paid in advance to the Collector,
who will call for them. The Council may apply any rents
so paid in advance towards replacing any keys lost or
damaged; or repairing any damage for which a tenant may
be liable, vide rule 9, and such rents then shall thereupon
be deemed to be due and owing to the Council as rents in
arrear.
