and of each room 2s. 2d. The number of persons in residence
on the 31st December last was 19,741, showing a
mean density of 725 people to the acre, or nearly 13 times
that of London.
The birth-rate for the year was 34.9 per 1,000, which
is 4.9 per 1,000 above that of all London for the same
period. The death-rate was 15.4 per 1,000, which is 2.8
per 1,000 below the average of London.
The infant mortality was 137.3 in each 1,000 births, or
21.9 below that of London.

the year was 191, of these 42 were young children. There
were 4 births and 2 deaths, equal to a birth-rate of 20'9
and a death-rate of 10.4 per 1,000 respectively. There
was no zymotic death, and only one notification of
infectious disease was received.
