Deaths and Death-rate.
During the year the deaths registered in the three sub-districts were :— | |
St. George, Bloomsbury . | 202 |
St. Giles, South | 431 |
St. Giles, North | 204 |
Total | 837 |
Of these 441 were males and 396 were females, showing
an excessive mortality of 45 males over females.
To obtain a true death-rate the number of registered
deaths in the district must be corrected by adding the
deaths of 258 parishioners, who died in the general hospitals,
lunatic asylums and other public institutions situated outside
the district; and by deducting the deaths of 60 nonparishioners,
who died in the Workhouse, Broad Street,
the British Lying-in-Hospital, Endell Street, and the French
Hospital, Shaftesbury Avenue.
